Shingle Springs Real Estate, Yesterday and Today

Shingle Springs began as an early, bustling gold mining settlement. Rich placer mines produced up to $200.00 per day. Realizing a potential need for building supplies, a group of entrepreneurs formed the Shingle Mill Company in 1849. This company's horse powered shingle mill and the clear water springs nearby gave the town its name.

In the mid 1860s, the Placerville and Sacramento Railroad completed a line to Shingle Springs, with an impressive 900 foot depot. The boost it provided was short-lived, however, as jealous Auburn residents soon had the line re-routed. Nevertheless, many cattle ranchers and farmers saw the rich potential of the area and stayed on.

Today, Shingle Springs real estate offerings include a mix of upscale gated communities, smaller homes on land, and picturesque horse properties on rolling hills.
